Things to Do in Hamilton This Weekend (May 8–10, 2026)

Mother’s Day weekend is here, and the forecast is doing that classic Hamilton spring thing — Saturday’s looking grey with a decent chance of rain (high of 17°C), Sunday’s clearing up and pleasant (around 16°C, mostly dry). Good news: most of this weekend’s headliners are indoors anyway. Here’s what’s worth your time.

See a Tragically Hip-inspired play at Theatre Aquarius

Through May 16 · Theatre Aquarius, 190 King William St.

It’s a Good Life If You Don’t Weaken is on stage now — an original production set in Toronto’s Kensington Market, woven through with the music and lyrics of The Hip. It’s a story about family, friendship, and resilience, and it lands hard whether you’re a Hip diehard or a theatre regular. A perfect rainy Saturday plan. Tickets and showtimes →

Treat Mom to a Victorian-era afternoon tea at Dundurn

Saturday, May 10 at 10 a.m. · Dundurn National Historic Site, 610 York Blvd.

Skip the brunch line and do something Mom will actually remember. Dundurn Castle’s Mother’s Day Tea Historic Cooking Workshop has participants preparing 19th-century recipes in the gaslit Victorian kitchen, then sitting down to enjoy them together. Genuinely unique, and the kind of thing that turns into a story she tells later. Details →

Shop the Mother’s Day Artisan Bazaar in Ancaster

Saturday & Sunday · Ancaster Fairgrounds, 630 Trinity Rd. S. · $6 admission

One hundred local artists and artisans under one roof, with fresh spring collections, handcrafted jewellery, home décor, original art, and gourmet treats. A long-running Hamilton-area Mother’s Day tradition for good reason — and a genuinely good place to find a gift that didn’t come from a big-box store. Event info →

Make a beach day of it at Hutch’s (turning 80!)

Sunday looks like the better weather day · Hutch’s on the Beach, 280 Van Wagners Beach Rd.

Hutch’s is celebrating 80 years on Hamilton’s waterfront this month — eighty. Since 1946. If Sunday’s forecast holds, drive out, grab fish and chips or a burger, get an ice cream, and walk the beach. It’s the most Hamilton thing you can do this weekend, and you’ll be supporting a place that’s been here longer than most of us. More info →
